Optometry Giving Sight to Support Vision Aid Overseas

"Together we share the same vision in our mission."

International development charity, Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) has announced that global charity organisation, Optometry Giving Sight (OGS), will be joining forces with VAO providing support throughout its 30th Anniversary year by collaborating in joint fundraising events to help raise money in the UK.

With both charities occupying much of the same space in the UK, particularly in terms of optical sector engagement, the collaboration will be an ideal partnership for two organisations that have very similar missions and beneficiaries at the heart of their activities.  It is hoped that by working more closely the two charities will be able to engage more comprehensively with the UK optical profession and accomplish more together, bringing added impact on the ground when delivering eye care to those in need.

VAO will be adopting OGS’s signature global fundraising campaigns as jointly branded initiatives including Optics Cycling for Sight and the World Sight Day Challenge.  Funds raised from the respective campaigns will help support the £150,000 target of additional donations VAO is aiming to achieve in 2015 for its 30th Anniversary year, helping an additional 30,000 people in developing countries gain access to life changing eye care services.

Commenting on the announcement, Executive Director at Vision Aid Overseas, Nigel Wilson said: “Vision Aid Overseas is delighted to be receiving the support of Optometry Giving Sight.  We are looking forward to working with them on their exciting fundraising campaigns and feel that our partnership will help to further establish both charities in the fundraising sector and offer additional opportunities for meeting our core objectives.”

Donna Power, Regional Manager, Europe Optometry Giving Sight, added, “We are really excited to work with Vision Aid Overseas in their 30th year.  Together we share the same vision in our mission in making eye care as accessible to as many people as possible.  We hope that by working together in this way, we can help to facilitate future working that helps both organisations achieve more together in the UK and internationally.”
