A living legacy
We are very sad to hear of the passing of Tim Bowden, a long-term supporter and former National Committee member of Optometry Giving Sight UK. Tim helped establish the Cycling for Sight (OC4S) initiative and personally cycled hundreds of miles, and raised significant funds to help provide sustainable access to eye care for people who are needlessly blind and vision impaired.
“Tim was one of the charity’s most loyal supporters, and quite literally went the extra mile to address uncorrected refractive error in areas without eye care services,” explained Donna Power, former Regional Manager Europe. "Cycling for Sight combined Tim’s passion for optics, cycling and helping others and we are sincerely thankful for the contribution he has made to eye care.”
“I remember always saying to Tim that if every supporter was like him, everyone would have access to the eye care they needed. We’re very thankful for all that Tim did, and I’m personally grateful to him for the personal encouragement he gave to the team and I when running Optometry Giving Sight in Europe.”
Tim’s legacy will live on in optics across all areas of the incredible work he was involved in.
We send our sincere condolences and love to his family, friends and colleagues.
