GOLDEN, Colo. and CALGARY, Alta.—October 27, 2026—Optometry Giving Sight (OGS) today announced two significant additions to its board leadership: the appointment of Dr. Luigi Bilotto as Chair, Canada, and the appointment of Dr. Alan Glazier as a new member of the OGS Board of Directors.
Dr. Bilotto assumes the role following the conclusion of Dr. Susan Cooper’s term. Based in Montreal, he brings more than three decades of international eye health leadership to the role. He serves as International Eye Health Advisor at l’École d’optométrie de l’université de Montréal, where he also served as Clinic Director (2002–2005) and has held a clinical faculty appointment since 2006. For nearly eleven years, he served as Director of Global Education and Human Resource Development at the Brien Holden Vision Institute, building optometry programs across underserved regions worldwide, a mission he continues to carry out with the University of Montreal in his current role. His international consulting work has extended, to adjunct faculty roles at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry (USA) and University of New South Wales (Australia), and to a technical advisory role with the WHO, the IAPB, the WCO, the AAO and ATscale/UNOPS. He remains active clinically serving remote regions of Quebec, having provided services for many years to Indigenous communities in northern Quebec through the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay. OGS extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Susan Cooper for her leadership and dedicated service to the organization’s mission.
Dr. Alan Glazier brings more than 30 years of experience in optometry and related fields to the OGS board. He is the founder of FluoreSCENE Group, which includes ODs on Facebook, a platform connecting more than 45,000 eye care professionals worldwide through professional dialogue, business intelligence, and collaborative tools. He also leads Presolutions Pharma, an intellectual property holding and licensing company focused on solutions for reversible vision loss and blindness. His career spans clinical practice, emerging technology, and the strategic application of intellectual property to advance vision health globally.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Glazier to our board and to see Dr. Bilotto step into this expanded leadership role,” said Donna J. Mikulecky, executive director of Optometry Giving Sight. “Both bring exceptional expertise and a genuine commitment to the work of expanding access to primary eye care around the world. We are fortunate to have them. We are also grateful for Dr. Cooper’s excellent leadership and many years as Chair and as Board member, as well as for the fact that she will remain on the Board as Past President for at least another year.”
“Optometry Giving Sight has always understood something fundamental: that training the right people in the right places is how you actually change outcomes,” said Dr. Bilotto. “I’ve spent my career working at that intersection, in classrooms, in clinics, and in communities that have been overlooked for too long. Stepping into this role is an opportunity to bring that experience to bear in a meaningful way, and I’m honored to do it.”
“What OGS is doing—building sustainable primary eye care infrastructure where it doesn’t yet exist—is exactly the kind of systemic work the field needs more of,” said Dr. Glazier. “I’ve spent my career thinking about how to connect eye care professionals and translate expertise into impact at scale. I’m looking forward to bringing that lens to the OGS board and helping advance a mission I believe in deeply.”
