(Scroll down for more details about each option!)

mostly hands-off

Set it up once. The hard part is getting started.

  • Add a Line Add a donation line to your EHR and ask patients to make a donation. Send the donations to OGS each month. Nothing else required.
  • Chipin Switch your payment processor to Chipin and they donate a portion of processing fees to OGS on your behalf.
  • Donate Rebates & Rewards Direct your patients to donate their CooperVision or Bausch + Lomb rebates and rewards points to OGS.
  • Monthly Recurring Donation The simplest path of all. Set up a recurring gift and let it run.
  • Recycle Contact Lenses (US only) Partner with Bausch + Lomb and TerraCycle to turn used contact lens materials into donations.
LIGHT LIFT

A little effort, a lot of impact.

  • Display Box / NFC Counter Card Place a donation box and/or NFC Counter Card at your dispensing desk. Invite patients to give after complimentary services.
  • Donate a Day Designate one day per month. Display the sign. Donate that day’s exam fees. That’s it!
  • Get the Conversation Going Display the OGS Global Impact Map in your practice. Let patients ask the questions. Let your support do the talking.
  • Pick a Pair Add $1–2 to frame prices. Count dispensed pairs. Donate the total. Simple math, meaningful impact.

Why join?

You chose a career in eye care because you know what good vision does for a life, and you believe eyecare is a right—not a privilege. Team OGS is how you extend that belief beyond your four walls and build  global giving directly into the way your practice operates, every single day. No sprints, no campaigns, no extra asks of your staff. Just a steady commitment that grows alongside your practice. And if you’re looking to formalize your community impact with a CSR program, Team OGS fits that too. But you don’t need a program to get started — you just need to care.

ALL THE DETAILS ABOUT PARTICIPATing:

Pick a Pair (without impacting your practice revenue)

How it Works: By letting your patients know that together you’re making a positive impact in the world—and by increasing your capture rate.

  • Just add a dollar or two to your eyeglass frames or select lines.
  • Count up the number dispensed monthly and donate the amount.
  • Add a sentence at the bottom of your sales receipts to let your patients know about your generosity, such as: For every frame sold we make a donation to Optometry Giving Sight.  Your purchase today helped give the gift of sight to someone in need. Place the cards provided by OGS in the glasses case.

Chipin Payment Processing

How it Works:

Use Chipin for your payment processing and they will donate a percentage to OGS. It’s a simple way to make monthly donations to OGS without impacting your practice revenue.

  • Chipin provides cost-saving credit card processing and donates a percentage of to charitable organizations out of its portion of its processing fees to OGS. Chipin offers to “Meet or Beat” your existing processing program. Just pick OGS as your chosen charity when signing up.
  • Click here for an overview.
  • For any questions, or for a no-cost comparison analysis of your current processor to Chipin, please click here, contact info@chip-in.org, or call Gregg Garfield at 818-981-6968, extension 3.

Recycle Contacts Lenses and Related Materials (US Practices Only)

In partnership with Bausch + Lomb and TerraCycle, Team OGS offers you two ways to turn recycled contact lenses and related materials into donations to OGS.

Bausch + Lomb ONE by ONE Recycling Program

How it Works: Collect used contact lenses, blister packs and other packaging (from any contact lens manufacturer.) Print a free shipping label and send the recyclables to Bausch + Lomb partner, TerraCycle. OGS then receives donations from the recycling program. When you register for the program, all recyclables returned to TerraCycle are turned into donations to OGS. There is no cost to join, only a benefit for the environment and the local and global community—wherever OGS is supporting a program to end preventable blindness.

  • Visit www.terracycle.com/bauschrecyclesinoffice to sign up for the recycling program. By signing up, the office can download free shipping labels to send used blister packs and solution bottles for recycling. In addition, the office will be listed as a drop off location for contact recycling – the office will be added to a locator map on www.terracycle.com/bauschrecycles which allows consumers to search their location to find an eye-care office that is collecting blister packs and solution bottles for recycling.
  • Give an OGS-provided thank-you card to each patient who recycles.
  • Follow the directions on the website to send your recycling container to Terracycle and to request another recycling container.

Bausch + Lomb Biotrue® Eye Care Recycling Program

How it Works: Collect all brands of contact lens cases, contact solution bottle caps, eye drop single-dose vials, and Biotrue Hydration Boost Eye Drop bottles. Once your recycling box is full, print a label online and ship the items to TerraCycle. The points you earn can be redeemed for a donation to OGS. There is no cost to join, only a benefit for the environment and the local and global community— wherever OGS is supporting a program to end preventable blindness.

  • Visit https://www.terracycle.com/en-US/brigades/biotrue and click on Sign Up and Join Waitlist to sign up for the recycling program.
  • Select Optometry Giving Sight as your charity of choice.
  • Place a donation box in your office.
  • Collect accepted materials until the box is full.
  • Sign in to your TerraCycle account to print a free return label.
  • Ship your recyclables free of charge.
  • Provide an OGS thank-you card to each patient who recycles.

Display Box / NFC Counter Card

How it Works: Place an OGS donation box and/or NFC Counter Card at your dispensing or reception desk and ask patients to help you support OGS. If you provide free services such as eyeglass adjustments and repairs, ask patients to consider donating to OGS. Patients are often willing to donate to a worthy cause in lieu of paying for these valuable services.

  • Display the box/counter card at your dispensing desk, reception desk or wherever patients check out. An OGS donation box will be included in your welcome kit.
  • Collect donations from patients who are interested in supporting our work, or for whom you’ve provided free services.
  • Provide every donor with an OGS thank you card.
  • Submit the proceeds to OGS monthly.

Add a Line

How it Works: Create a donation line-item in your system. Encourage patients to make a donation. Patients may be especially willing to give in exchange for free services you normally offer.

  • Create a line item for donations to OGS. You may also establish recommended donation amounts for free services you normally offer, such as eyeglass adjustments.
  • Promote the program to your patients at the point of sale/service. Explain that their donation supports OGS’s projects that provide vision care and eyeglasses to those in need.
  • Provide every donor with an OGS thank you card.
  • Submit the proceeds to OGS monthly or quarterly.

After joining TEAM OGS, we will mail you a welcome kit containing the thank you cards and other marketing materials. Click here to join.

Donate a Day

How it Works: Donate exam fees from one day per month to OGS.

  • Select one day each month to donate exam fees to OGS.
  • On that day, display the sign included in the welcome kit to alert your patients that proceeds from the day’s exams will be donated to OGS.
  • Give each patient that day an OGS thank-you card.
  • Submit the proceeds to OGS monthly.

Monthly Recurring Donations

How it Works: One of the simplest ways to support us is to set up a recurring monthly donation to OGS. It’s easy on your pocketbook and greatly reduces our administrative costs. Every donation counts!

Get the Conversation Going

How it Works: Display the OGS Impact Map somewhere your patients will see it. The map shows where OGS-funded projects have brought vision care to communities around the world, and it has a way of stopping people in their tracks.

  • Request your 16″x20″ map through our Join Us form and hang it where staff and patients naturally connect.
  • When someone asks about it — and they will — you’ll have a story worth telling.
  • A QR code on the map links patients directly to OGS’s work globally, so curiosity can go as deep as they’d like.

Direct Your Patients to Donate Rebates and Rewards

Optometry Giving Sight benefits from contact lens rebate and rewards programs sponsored by CooperVision and Bausch + Lomb.

CooperVision Contact Lens Rebate Program

How it Works: CooperVision’s contact lens rebate program provides money back to patients who purchase a year’s supply of select lenses. During the rebate application process they have the option to donate all or a portion of their rebates to Optometry Giving Sight. We make it easy to let patients know about it by providing stickers you can add to the contact lens packaging.

  • Place the provided sticker on each contact lens package.
  • Encourage patients who buy qualifying CooperVision contact lenses to purchase a year’s supply so they can take advantage of the rebate program.
  • Ask patients to consider donating their rebates to OGS to provide eye care to people in need. (They do this when submitting their rebate form.)

Bausch + Lomb’s Horizon Rewards Program

How it Works: Bausch + Lomb’s Horizon Rewards contact lens program provides points to patients who make a qualifying purchase of contact lenses. Patients can then designate some or all of their points to be donated to OGS. We make it easy to let patients know about it by providing stickers you can add to the contact lens packaging.

  • Place the provided sticker on each contact lens package.
  • Encourage patients who buy qualifying contact lenses to register online for the Bausch + Lomb Horizons Program
  • Ask patients to consider donating their reward points to OGS to provide eye care to people in need. (They do this when submitting their rebate form.)
